Match Race 2014

For the 17th time the Match Race took place at the Lake of Constance. This year with 12 teams from 11 countries.

The first Match Race Germany was back in 1997 and today it is being ranked as Germany´s highest ranking and most valuable Match Race which has also served as the German stop for the ALPARI World Match Racing Tour for the last 15 years.

The organizers, Match Race Germany and Yacht Club Langenargen joined forces in setting up the event that attracted quite a number of visitors and not the least some of Europe's best sailors. The duels were tense up till the very last minute. However World Champion Ian Williams succeeded in defending his Championship from last year.

To Elvstrøm Sails this was also a race that was followed closely by Key Account Manager, Søren Hansen from Elvstrøm Sails in Denmark who explains; "This is the fourth year in a row that the German Match Race set´s off on Epex sails from us. For a Match Race the sails must of course deliver a high performance, but also be able to endure an intense use for as many years as possible, and to me this is the best proof of evidence that our Epex sails keep us the shape and the performance year after year," Søren Hansen proudly winds up.
