HR-342 with EPEX sails
Brand-new HR-342 SY „Bente“ wins Neustadt-Cups 2016 with Elvstrøm, EPEX Sails. Just the day before the Neustadt-Cup Race 2016 the owner of a brand-new HR-342 names his yacht after his lovely daughter “Bente”.
This name giving ceremony took place in light rain and none of the guests knew in that moment, what an unforgettable weekend this was going to be….
Our Elvstrøm Sailpoint Neustadt, Frank Simoneit, and the owner of the yacht, Manfred Schinck, who is living in Neustadt, decided at the beginning of this year to equip “Bente” with the best of sails that Elvstrøm Sails manufacture: EPEX-membrane-sails. They chose a mix of Vectran and Technora fibres, which is an extremely strong combination and brings out sails which will last for years, with a perfect power for performance cruising and races as well.
Just the day after the yacht christening Manfred Schinck and 4 friends started at the Neustadt Cup and by mostly 20 knots of wind they performed very well at various up and down courses during the race.
So the overwhelming result at the price-giving-ceremony was not only the 1st place in their class but the overall 1st place in the yardstick groups III and IV!
One of organisers of the Neustadt-Cup, the ancora-Marina, donates since 8 years a special trophy for this winner. Made by John Mellows the crew won a stainless steel sailing sculpture, such as EllenMcArthur years ago for her success at the Vendee Globe Race. Now one of these beautiful, fine art works is to be found in her living room in England and now, since last weekend, in the living room of Bente’s owner in Neustadt!
Congratulations to all of you!
