Elvstrøm Sails has been building sails since 1954, when four-time Olympic gold medalist Paul Elvstrøm sewed his first race-winning sail in the basement of his family home. Seven decades later, that same obsession with speed, precision, and craftsmanship crosses the Atlantic. Elvstrøm Sails North America brings the brand's legendary heritage to sailors across the United States and Canada, backed by a team of veteran sailmakers, industry leaders, and champion sailors who have spent their careers on the water and on the loft floor.

The Team

Welcome to the all-new Elvstrøm Sails North America - headed by our new team located in Newport, Rhode Island! 

CEO Tim Healy has spent nearly three decades at the top of the sport as well as the sailmaking business. The triple World Champion in J/24's and J/70's has outstanding experience in One Design racing and sailmaking.

COO Rodrigo Meireles leads design, product and sailmaking operations and has over three decades of experience inside the manufacturing part of the sailmaking industry. From design to finished sails.

CFO Dr. Jeff Shay comes with more than three decades of experience in helping organizations grow. Shay is a professor of entrepreneurship and a strategic advisor for a range of brands - and moreover also a keen racer in anything from J/24's to the Farr 40.

CMO Nick von der Wense leads the marketing for Elvstrøm Sails North America. He is a 15-time National and North American sailing champion and has a sailor's eye for detail to how the brand connects with customers.

Senior Sales Consultant Tom Castiglione brings over 30 years of experience in sailmaking and racing to the table. Castiglione uses his experience to understand and define the right setup for every customer - and the way they use their boat.

Dealer Consultant Steve Benjamin is among the most decorated racers in American sailing. The former olympic medalist has a keen eye for selecting the ideal setup for every type of racer, and now he serves as our consultant, sharing his championship-winning insights with every client.
