Elvstrøm Sails is the brainchild of Paul Elvstrøm, who founded the company on the back of his legendary career in sailing.
Elvstrøm founded Elvstrøm Sails in 1954 in Copenhagen. Elvstrøm's constant desire to improve all technical aspects of the sport led him to making numerous inventions, and under the banner of what has since become Elvstrøm Sails, Elvstrøm and his friends started producing dinghy sails in the basement under the family villa.
Production soon took shape and became a success - much so that the company moved to new facilities and grew rapidly in the first years to become a household name in dinghy racing and later yachting.
