Elvstrøm Sails gearing up for Plastic Change in 2015

10 million MT of plastic ends up in the sea. 400 years it the time it takes a plastic bottle to degrade in the ocean.

These are some of the facts the Organization, Plastic Change works to draw attention to. The people behind the organization; biologist Henrik Beha Pedersen being one of them has a vision: "To enable future generations to continuously have the possibility to benefit from the ocean and enjoy life in nature without plastic pollution." Expedition Plastic Change sets out in April 2015 to Bermuda with S/Y Christianshavn, a Danish ship, to investigate and document the extensive plastic pollution in the ocean.

In the Autumn 2014 Christianshavn was equipped with sails from Elvstrøm Sails. Niels Bjerregaard, CEO Elvstrøm Sails, explains, “When they first contacted us to buy a new sail for their expedition, I was very triggered by their vision. To us this is of course an important issue. As a company as well as a citizen of the world we acknowledge the efforts by Plastic Change. Thus we're glad to see them take off with Elvstrøm Sails and wish the team onboard good luck with their efforts.”
