The German Landesberufsschule für Bootsbauer in Lübeck-Travemünde is going to set Elvstrøm Sails in the future. The school attracts young talent from all over Germany who come to study boatbuilding.
Another part of the education is that the school also has its own, 36 foot Bavaria as a training yacht.
The Bavaria has the fitting name, "ApprenticeShip", which now gets a new wardrobe of Elvstrøm Sails. The set consists of a mainsail, a jib and a light wind jib - all fitted by sailmaker Volker Martel from Elvstrøm Sails Travemünde.
Supporting the next generation of talent in boatbuilding is ever important for Bavaria, and with the school in Lübeck-Travemünde being the only one of its kind in Germany, it's an important cause to support for Bavaria Yachts, company PR and Marketing, Marcus Schlichting points out:
- It is important to us to inspire young people for boatbuilding and to give them the opportunity to receive qualified training. The State Vocational School in Lübeck-Travemünde does an excellent job in this area, and we are proud to be able to support them.
A sailing donation
The boat itself was also a donation from Bavaria Yachts years ago, and it still plays a vital role in the practical training at the Landesberufsschule für Bootsbauer in Lübeck-Travemünde today. And the sails will be put to good use, says Christian Garleff, who is the head of the maritime department of the school:
- Collaboration with the industry is very important to us. The new sails will give our students the opportunity to practice in a modern environment and improve their skills in practical seamanship.
