Pauline Fauroux has been involved with Elvstrøm Sails in France for years, but what’s relatively new is that she has opened her own sail loft in Cannes. Pauline is, however, still associated with Elvstrøm Sails and started this new part of her journey as an official Elvstrøm Sailpoint.
After being an active sailor for years – and still is – Pauline joined the Elvstrøm Sails group in 2019 as a trainee. After one year in the position, Pauline finished her studies and joined Elvstrøm Sails France in Mouans Sartoux full time by September 2020, and until recently where she opened the doors on her new sail loft.
Pauline was offered the opportunity to go independent with Elvstrøm Sails Cannes – a logical continuation of her assignments, she points out:
- The idea of opening my own business was the logical continuation of my growth with Elvstrøm Sails. As soon as they offered me this opportunity, I jumped on this chance. I am extremely lucky to have a clientele which followed me and supported me in starting my company, she says and adds:
- It gives both me and Elvstrøm Sails some advantages. In this new position, I can offer complementary services as well as measuring and selling new sails. Thus, meeting the needs of the customers in a better way.
Life as a sailmaker
Pauline’s way into sailing and now sailmaking has been a part of the family for generations. Her father worked as a naval architect, and her grandfather was also heavily involved in sailing. And when her uncle taught her how to sail by the age of five, Pauline never looked back:
- I was five years old when my uncle taught me how to sail in an Optimist, and since that time, I have never looked back, nor have I ever stopped sailing. I did all sorts of competitions on national, regional and international levels alongside my studies, and I even chose a path through education, where I could combine school and sailing.
- I have learnt so much through my sailing years, and I continued doing high-level sailing until 2019, where I was offered the opportunity with Elvstrøm Sails, and I’m so happy to continue uniting my passion for sailing with my job today.
