Choosing a new sail or even an entire sail wardrobe very often comes down to a priority of performance, durability, and price. When talking performance, the essence is the shape stability of the sail, whereas the durability refers to the longevity of the sail.
Below are some popular sail- and material combinations in our MARIN segment. Performance, durability, and price indicators are illustrated for each material combination on a scale from 1-10, 10 being the highest. Use the performance, durability, and price parameters as indicators only, and to compare various materials to one another.
We are mainly using our sails for a good mix of daysailing and weekend cruises. We've done around 1.000 miles this year, mainly in Denmark. Our set of sails on the LM30 are based around eXRP for the mainsail and headsail, and furthermore, we are also running an Elvstrøm Sails gennaker. Really happy with our setup, which serves us well every time.
Unique sail solutions and details are available within our different segments. Here are some that are available in ALISIO as either standard or optional. The features shown are examples and depends on the actual sail type.
Headboard that provides a larger sail area in the top of the sail and thus a better trim and efficiency.
Telltales are used for trimming the sails. Telltales also gives you clues wether to bear off or head up.
1, 2 or 3 reefs enabling you to reduce the sail area in heavy wind giving you a more comfortable ride.
Webbing loops in top and tack which is strong and soft and will not damage your furling system.
