The Elvstrøm Sails Configurator is an online tool developed by Elvstrøm Sails. Being among the most reputable sailmakers in the world, it is our mission to make the complex process of buying a sail easier.
This was our que to introduce the configurator - to provide sailors with the ability to tailor and preview sails and options in glorious 3D. The Elvstrøm Sails Sail Configurator allows users to select sail type, material, dimensions, and several other options, ensuring that each sail fits perfectly for a specific boat and its sailing conditions.
From idea to visualization
In the configurator, users can start by choosing the sail type, whether it’s for racing, cruising, or offshore sailing. The configurator runs on the full line-up and portfolio of Elvstrøm Sails - and even though a sail is a tailor made, this makes it much easier to view and consider different options, sailcloths, sail materials and sail layouts. Just to mention a few.
From here, they can input specific requirements, select materials, and adjust additional features like battens, reefing points, and reinforcements, ensuring the sail matches their performance expectations.
The visual model adjusts in real-time based on the inputs provided, giving sailors a clear picture of how the sail will look and perform on their vessel.
Sail material selection
Elvstrøm Sails offers a variety of high-performance sailcloth materials, including Dacron, laminate sails and more advanced constructions in the form of membrane sails, EPEX and XYLO.
Each sail material offers different characteristics, from durability and UV resistance to the lightweight properties and stretch of the sail.
Having this knowledge is the foundation of matching the sail type and sail design to the customers personal sailing style and preferences.
